Hi, I’m Anu, the creator of Growing Curious Minds. As a mom of two boys, my deepest desire is for them to walk with the Lord and to possess godly characteristics. Raising Godly boys especially in today’s world is not an easy task. Prayer is the best ammunition we have to protect our family. Today, I’m sharing with you 5 prayers for raising Godly boys.

Raising Godly boys in today's world is an achievable but hard task. Thankfully we don't have to go through the parenting journey alone. There are so many areas concerning our children that can be lifted up in prayer. It draws us closer to the Lord and we realize even more how much we need Him. Here are 5 Prayers for Raising Godly Boys.

Parenting is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. But can we keep it real? It is also THE hardest job I’ve ever held. It can be joyful, painful, fulfilling and exhausting all at the same time.

Being a prayer warrior myself, I knew the only way I could travel on this parenting journey was if I was on my knees seeking the Lord’s help. Battling and interceding for my children’s lives is not an option but a necessity. The enemy is eagerly waiting to attack us and if we don’t wrap our family and our children in prayer, then they are open to all the darts that are thrown at them.

When we pray, we are inviting, seeking and acknowledging God’s presence in our lives. I love that we can lift up every concern, fear and worry into the Father’s capable hands. It’s so reassuring to know that we are not alone in this journey but through Him, we can do all things.

I especially love using God’s word in my prayer. After all, the scripture is “living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword”(Hebrews 4:12). Use of God’s word directly in my prayer was something I learned a few years ago. I’ve seen mighty things happen when I have used scripture in my prayer.

2) Philippians 1:9-11

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Lord, I pray that my boys will abound in love, knowledge, and understanding so they may be able to discern what is best and will be pure and blameless and filled with the fruit of righteousness.

3) Colossians 1:10

So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.

Father, I pray that my boys will live a life worthy of you, please you in every way, bearing fruit while doing good work and growing in your knowledge.

4) Colossians 3: 12-14

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Jesus, please clothe my boys with God-pleasing virtues like compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Help them to be quick to forgive and show love in all circumstances.

5) Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.

Lord, help my boys to know who they are in you. Help them to understand that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. May they bear the fruit of the Spirit and exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control in their daily walk. Help them to conduct themselves in a worthy manner that will please your heart.

I fully believe that fervent prayers of parents are powerful and effective (James 5:16). And we are never short of concerns or issues to pray regarding our children. Let us not grow weary but steadfastly lift our boys in prayer every moment.

Are you a prayer warrior? What are some Bible verses that have helped you in your parenting journey?
